Feeling Stuck in Life? Self-Care May Be Your Ticket Out

"How do I get unstuck?" "How do I stop dating this same type of awful guy?" "How do I find my calling?"

These are questions I hear from clients who feel stuck in life. They feel disconnected from their selves and have lost their sense of value and direction in career and relationships. 

One of the most powerful things you can do to get unstuck is to finally start taking self-care seriously.

Let me put it this way. Imagine you are a caterpillar in a cocoon. Feels warm and safe, but so very boring and claustrophobic. A caterpillar has to outgrow her cocoon or she dies. You may not die (not today anyways), but when you choose to deny your true self over and over, you die a little bit inside.

Nature shows us this in many forms...snails, lobsters, snakes, etc. They all have to outgrow and move onto bigger and better things. But they do it organically not by just deciding they will make it happen by a force of their will. It is very hard to change habits and relationships without doing it from the inside out.

That is why self-care is so powerful. Each act of self-kindness makes you bigger and stronger until that cocoon can't contain you. Breaking out is no longer a chore, but becomes inevitable. That's why when someone is on the fence about leaving a relationship or job, my first word of wisdom is to invest in themselves. Then they will make that decision from a place of power and strength. And maybe that cocoon will just fall away. 

Meditation, exercise, walks by the ocean, alone time, friend time, spa day, journaling,  healthy eating, gratitude. Self-care will change your life. Now get to it, Butterfly!
