Your mind, like your body, heals itself if given the chance. I call this process “physical therapy for your brain” because through awareness, mindfulness, meditation, conscious thinking, and processing the traumatic events in a safe and healing environment, you can change the neural pathways in your brain, calm your amygdala, and light up that reasoning peaceful prefrontal cortex.

Like a strained muscle or a broken bone, ignoring a wound rarely leads to healing. But with proper care, not only can you heal from the trauma, but you can develop mental and emotional strengths and abilities that make you more resilient in the face of future challenges and more able to handle the difficulties of daily life.
