HOW CAN THERAPY HELP ME?

Therapy addresses the personal issues, relationship difficulties, and the life challenges that we all face at times. It provides a safe and supportive space in which to initiate change in your life. At Thrive, we look at those challenges and face them straight on with the help the latest evidence based methods. Our goal is to equip you with the tools needed to overcome life’s toughest challenges and help you on your way to being the best version of yourself. On a weekly basis, we hear from Thrive clients who are experiencing transformational changes in their life. These changes include increased feelings of well-being, improved relationships, higher self-esteem, empowerment, enhanced physical health through reduction of stress, and greater clarity about their purpose and direction in life.

I’VE NEVER DONE THERAPY. WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?

Great! First of all, we commend you for taking the first step towards healing and wholeness. At Thrive, we see a lot of first time therapy clients. Our therapists are happy to talk to your through the process to make sure you’re comfortable and will align a treatment and success plan specific to your needs. During the first sessions, we work to develop an understanding of the concerns, hopes, and the goals that bring you to therapy. From there we develop an approach to help you reach those goals. Rest assured that we will walk with you every step of the way to make sure that your investment in yourself is worthwhile, as well as answer any questions along the way.

IS EVERYTHING I TALK ABOUT CONFIDENTIAL?

Confidentiality is the bedrock of therapy; it protects your privacy to share freely and openly in your sessions. Your sessions and all information you disclose are confidential (Thrive’s Privacy Policy). Except for the instances stated below, which are required by law, we will not share information or respond to inquiries of any kind from any source without your written consent. All mental health providers are required to abide by these guidelines.

  • If in our clinical judgment, you pose a threat to harm yourself, and you refuse appropriate treatment, your Thrive therapist is ethically bound to notify the appropriate parties (those who can intervene to protect you).

  • If you indicate a serious imminent threat to harm another person, Thrive is legally required to warn the intended victim(s) and the police and/or to obtain a civil commitment to the state mental health system.

  • We are required to report any suspicion of child or elder abuse or neglect to the appropriate authorities.

  • In rare instances state or federal courts may subpoena our records for testimony. In most instances, we are forced to honor these subpoenas.

HOW LONG WILL WILL I BE IN THERAPY?

This is a completely reasonable question to ask, and it is one of the hardest to answer. Each person’s therapy is inherently unique and personal; it moves at its own pace. The simplest answer is that it ends when you feel that you have completed the work you came to therapy to do. It is a decision that is ultimately in your hands. It is our goal to work with you so you can be fully healed, empowered and living your best life. Some clients come with a specific goal in mind and end therapy once that goal has been met. Others find Thrive to be so helpful after their initial goal is met, that they stay longer and add additional goals, or add Thrive as part of their self-care routine. Provided that we have worked well together with you and have a strong and trusting relationship, it is ideal (and not uncommon) for us to arrive at that question at about the same time. It is then a decision that we explore together with the understanding that you are welcome to come back at any time.

WHAT IS A GOOD FAITH ESTIMATE?

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the No Surprises Act, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

  • Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

  • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 800-985-3059
